Beauty is everywhere around us, in the curiosity of a small bird, in the bloom of a flower, in the buildings we walk past and rarely actually look at.
As a visual artist I like to draw everything I see, be it people or nature, architecture or still life. Sometimes the way the light catches on a piece of fabric intrigues me, other times the way my cat seemingly smiles inspires me to paint.
As a multi-media artist I am fascinated by a variety of tools and methods. Over the years I have mastered many forms of art but have never limited myself to any one and continue to be inspired by and learn new ways of artistic expression.
Some art is inspired by the subject, some is inspired by the medium and some is created on request..
The subject of inspiration can be anything like a painting in a gallery or a character in a game or TV show or just a beautiful old tree in the park. Whatever it is, when inspired by a specific subject to draw, the media is then selected to best suit it's visual representation.
In some cases the medium itself inspires the artwork like when when a new set of pencils or new type of paint is released and the objective becomes to try them and see what they are capable of or best suited for. Then the subject becomes secondary and the inspiration flows from the tools in hand.
Commissioned art is both the easiest and the hardest simultaneously, because you know exactly what to create and what to use but there is always a delicate sense of apprehension and anticipation in the hopes of meeting someone's expectations and bringing new joy into the world.
